Abstract

Diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects (CHD) in adult patients is an actual problem requiring improvement of approaches to the medical care. Due to significant increase in survival after correction of CHD, this group is increasing all over the world. Its complexity consists on the diversity of congenital pathology and the stage of its surgical correction – from the newly diagnosed disease to multiple re-operated defects. Besides, such observations are still rare at the general cardiologist practice, so it is lack of experience. And clinical signs are nonspecific. One of the most frequent clinical evidence of CHD in adults is chronic heart failure (CHF), which can manifest at 3–4-th decades of life even in operated defects. HF mechanisms in CHD differ from ones in general HF patients, as well as medical and device therapy. This article is due to diagnosis and treatment of chronic heart failure in adult patients with congenital heart defects.
