Abstract
Non-dilated left ventricular cardiomyopathy (NDLVC) is a novel phenotype of cardiomyopathy defined as non–ischemic left ventricular scarring or fatty replacement regardless of the presence of global or regional wall motion abnormalities, or isolated global left ventricular hypokinesia without scarring. This term was officially introduced by the European Society of Cardiology in their 2023 guidelines for managing patients with cardiomyopathies. In recent years, the role of delayed contrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and genetic studies in the diagnosis and risk stratification of cardiomyopathies has significantly increased. This descriptive review discusses the current recommendations for the NDLVC phenotype, with a focus on the capabilities of MRI, genetic testing, and risk stratification for this patient population.References
