Abstract

Holter monitoring is one of the main methods of detection of heart rhythm disorders, which has been used for more than 60 years. During this period, the clinical significance, devices used have changed greatly, an impressive evidence base for the use of the method in various heart diseases has been accumulated, and clinical recommendations for the use of Holter monitoring in a particular case have been formulated. At the same time, technological progress determines new opportunities for the application of long-term and remote monitoring of heart rhythm. Their role in clinical practice and evidence base are represented by few papers, which, however, demonstrate promising results in the detection of potentially threatening heart rhythm disorders, prevention of major arrhythmological events and sudden cardiac death.
