Abstract

Using the example of this clinical case, the main features of the use of drug-coated balloons in patients with chronic coronary artery disease and stenosing coronary artery disease are analyzed. An alternative to the routine clinical practice of coronary artery revascularization using drug-coated stents in the form of angioplasty using drug-coated cylinders is presented. Currently, this technology has a convincing evidence base in the treatment of intra-stent restenosis, as well as in small-diameter arteries, but it can also be used for stenotic lesions in the immediate vicinity of the muscular bridge, the inability of a drug-coated stent, and the patient’s refusal to implant a stent, which will minimize the number of stent implantation procedures in the coronary arteries and increase the physiology of the performed interventions, improve the long-term results of interventions.
