Abstract

We studied relationship between the level of high-sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the severity of diastolic dysfunction in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). 52 patients with AMI were enrolled in the study, 38 of them were treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Transthoracic echocardiography and hs-CRP measurements were performed in all patients on the first day of AMI. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to grade of diastolic dysfunction: group 1 (normal diastolic function), group 2 (impared relaxation) and group 3 (pseudonormal and restrictive transmitral pattern). In group 3 hs-CRP level on the first day of AMI were significantly higher than these levels in patients of group 1 and group 2 (54,7±22,17 ng/ml vs 7,5±1,2 ng/ml, p=0,004 and 54,7±22,17 ng/ml vs 10,8±3,11 ng/ml, p=0,003).
