Abstract

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TSCM) is a rare type of cardiomyopathy in which reversible disorders of myocardium contractility are seen. The basic feature of a syndrome is transient dyskinesia of left ventricular apex without significant coronary artery stenoses in coronary angiography. In the first lecture we studied epidemiology and early theories of pathogenesis for Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. It is shown in series of papers that patients with TSCM have spasm of coronary arteries and left ventricular outflow tract. Due to the fact that TSCM is mostly developed after stress with increase level of catecholamines in blood, its pathogenesis also refers to toxic effect of catecholamines on myocardium.
