Abstract
Objective. To correlate the morphometic parameters of coronary veins with functional parameters parameters of the heart in patients with valvular heart deseases (VHD) by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Material and methods. MRI studies were performed 50 patients divided into two groups: 30 patients without (control group) and 20 with VHD and pulmonary hypertension. In the standard protocol of the cardiac MRI, the three-dimensional scan program of the heart was included.
Results. The coronary sinus (CS) and the main veins were enlarged in patients with VHD compared with the control group (p≤0.05). When conducting a pair correlation analysis, a significant correlation between the CS mouth diameter and end-diastolic volume and end-systolic volume of the right ventricular, both in the control group and in the group of pathology (p≤0.05). In the group of VHD patients and pulmonary hypertension, a statistical relationship between the diameter of the CS mouth and the eccentricity index was also noted (R=0.57; p=0.005).
Conclusions. MRI allows to determine hemodynamic changes and their reflection on the venous system of the
heart. Expansion of the coronary venous system of the heart is more sensitive to right ventricular changes than left
ventricular ones.
