Abstract

The article describes the current understanding of the takotsubo syndrome, primarily based on the Consensus on this disease, released in 2018. It was demonstrated that this disease has a poor prognosis comparable to acute forms of coronary heart disease. We discuss the main pathophysiologic mechanisms for the development of takotsubo syndrome and approaches to its diagnosis and treatment.
