Abstract

Resynchronization therapy is the main treatment option in patients with atrio-ventricular block, sick sinus syndrome and other cardiac rhythm dysfunction. Cardiac resynchronization is also one of the method of treatment of chronic heart failure where key principles is restoring physiologic consequence of ventricular activation and improvement in atrio-ventricular conduction which results in increasing of ejection fraction.
Currently endovascular lead implantation is the treatment of chose. However, failure occurred more than in 10% of patients. In this case epicardial lead implantation is advisable also with thorocoscopic and minimally invasive technique with video-assistance. The review reveals world experience of minimally invasive epicardial lead implantation methods during cardiac rhythm disorders and cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients with chronic heart failure.
