Abstract

The development of oncological care and the introduction of new treatment methods have led to an increase in the life expectancy of cancer patients, and the problem of early detection of cardiovasculotoxicity of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the main component of which is timely and highly informative imaging of the cardiovascular system, has come to the forefront. In the clinical recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology on cardiooncology, released in 2022, the basis is ultrasound methods: transthoracic and 3-dimensional echocardiography, as well as global longitudinal strain of the left ventricle. In case of impossibility of ultrasound examination, magnetic resonance imaging is recommended. However, all these methods are less informative for diagnosing of the coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease and pericardial complications, especially in cases of calcification of these structures. In this regard, attention is drawn to the cardiac computed tomography (CT), which allows you to obtain all the information. Our article is devoted to the analysis of the first experience of using the CT method in examining patients with various types of cancer undergoing radiation and chemotherapy.
