Abstract

Modern imaging techniques, including various echocardiography technologies, have become firmly established in the practice of cardiac surgery. Complex echocardiographic examination in the perioperative period is of particular importance for ensuring patient safety during open heart surgery. Echocardiography data allows the surgeon to choose the optimal surgical intervention tactics, as well as evaluate the results of the operation and predict the nature of the course of the early postoperative period. The presented review article shows the possibilities of complex echocardiography to assess the function of the tricuspid valve (TV). The positions of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography for assessment of morphology and TV function are described in detail. We presented the classifications of tricuspid regurgitation, echocardiographic parameters to assess its severity and techniques for surgical treatment of tricuspid valve.
