Abstract
Difficulties in choosing the method of revascularization based on data on the coronary lesions anatomy, especially in case of combined comorbidities, the probability of complications in the postoperative period often cause initially high surgical risk and determine the need for a multidisciplinary approach in the treatment of such patients. The concept of Heart Team induces more and more interest now. It involves the collaborative work of doctors of various specialties whose theoretical knowledge and personal practical experience allow to develop an individual treatment plan for each patient taking into account all the parameters.
The main task of the Heart Team is the optimization of decision-making for complex patients which is getting more complicated with the development of technology and the accumulation of data from large randomized trials. This principle provides an excellent opportunity for the detailed discussion of a patient, falling into the intermediate zone of the comhaving a strong comorbidity. It is a highly productive and effective form of interdisciplinary cooperation of the qualified healthcare professionals in a cardiovascular surgical centre that helps to determine the best-weighted treatment options oriented on a patient's benefits and interests.
The article presents the history of the concept's development. Its feasibility in the treatment of patients with coronary heart disease, the principles of the Heart Team organization are discussed. The difficulties associated with the introduction of the multidisciplinary approach are specially considered.plexity of the coronary lesion and/or
