Abstract
This article highlights the current state of cardiac rehabilitation after cardiovascular events and/or operations in the leading countries of the world. Regardless of the country, each cardiorehabilitation program includes: teaching healthy lifestyle rules, psychological support, physical therapy classes. Doctors of various specialties should be involved in such programs: cardiologist/cardiac surgeon, cardiorehabilitologist, physical therapy instructor, physiotherapist, psychologist, nutritionist. There are inpatient and outpatient programs. Recently, the latter have been gaining more and more popularity. The world leaders in the field of cardiac rehabilitation are the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Germany.
Cardiorehabilitation has been actively developing in Russia recently. The organization of a three-stage cardiorehabilitation system in our country (as part of a pilot project) made it possible to reduce the duration of in-hospital stay after an acute myocardial infarction by an average of 2–5.5 days. To date, many randomized studies have been conducted on methods of rehabilitation of patients with coronary heart disease, methods of rehabilitation of patients after surgical correction of acquired heart defects are gradually emerging, and cardiorehabilitation of children with CHD is just beginning to develop. The main problem at the present time is ensuring wide access to cardiac rehabilitation programs for all groups of patients after cardiovascular disasters.
