Abstract

In order to study the relationship of arterial stiffness (AS) and cognitive functions of 77 patients (30 men and 47 women, mean age 61 ± 11 year) with multiple cardiovascular risk factors or chronic cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), or cardiac pathology were examined. AS was assessed with 24-hour blood pressure monitoring and application software «Vasotens» (MnSDP-3, BPLab, «Peter Telegin», Russia). One group consisted of 38 (49%) patients without cognitive impairment, 2 group - 39 (51%) patients with mild cognitive impairment. Both groups were comparable by CVD rate. Patients from group 2 were older and more often suffered from congestive heart failure and coronary artery diseases. AS were significantly higher in second group. Among all patients negative correlation between cognitive score and indicators of AS was found.
