Abstract

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is one of the most informative methods of detailed assessment of myocardial tissue in vivo. Since the 90-ies of XX century in clinical practice firmly established technique of the late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). LGE is associated with adverse clinical outcomes across a range of different cardiac conditions and may improve risk stratification for death, sudden cardiac death, or serious adverse events beyond traditional prognostic markers. In recent years performed the analysis of diagnostic and prognostic impact of LGE in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. This article presents the current literature review of the MRI with LGE in patients with ischemic heart disease, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, myocardial inflammatory diseases, non-valvular atrial fibrillation and selection of patients for cardioverter-defibrillator implantation using MRI.
